Mines minister Michael Gravelle is throwing cold water on a recommendation in a mining report from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.
The report makes nine recommendations in all.
One of them asks the government to broaden the mandate of the development corporation the province created to oversee the Ring of Fire.
Gravelle doesn’t want to do this for fear that the corporation won`t be as focused on the current status of the Ring of Fire.
Another recommendation asks the province and federal government to clarify the consultation process between First Nations and mining companies.
