Retailers in Ontario are beefing up their stock of winter tires.
The Tire and Rubber Association of Canada has seen a 25 percent increase in winter tire shipments to Ontario and believe it’s because of drivers accepting the increased safety of winter tires and a new law.
Communications Manager of TRACÂ Carolyn Goard says the provincial government recently introduced a mandatory insurance discount program for drivers who use winter tires to help improve road safety and to lower insurance premiums for Ontario drivers.
Goard says the amount of savings isn’t going to be the same across the province as each insurance company can provide their own discount.
