Concerns Raised Over ONTC Cuts

Recent cuts to the ONTC’s bus line have a Northern Ontario MPP up in arms.

It was announced this week that routes have been cancelled, which now means a three-day trip from the north to Ottawa.

The New Democrat representative for Temiskaming-Cochrane John Vanthof is now asking why these cuts are being allowed.

He says the passenger trains were cancelled in 2012 because the Wynne Liberals had an equivalent bus line.

The Minister of Northern Development and Mines, Michael Gravelle, says the ONTC is making changes to the way they operate to ensure sustainability.
