Diabetes Awareness Month starts on November 1st.
On Monday, November 16th the Sensenbrenner Hospital will be holding an event in its lobby from 8:00am until 5:00pm.
The hospital will be raising awareness for diabetes screenings, providing educational material and hosting draws for guests of the event.
The goal throughout November is to raise awareness about diabetes, for those who are affected in any way, especially here in the Northeast.
Timmins Branch Manager of the Canadian Diabetes Association, Julie St-Onge says diabetes is something that is becoming more and more common, especially in the Northeast.
She says the goal of November’s awareness month is to provide a resource for more information and raise funds.
Patients who have diabetes complications can self-refer to the Diabetes Education Centre in Timmins for medical help and supplies.
