MNR: Fatal Disease Affecting Bats and Bio-Diversity

The MNR is asking the public to stay away from caves, mines and other habitats bats may hibernate in.

The MNR says the bat population is under threat of a fatal disease that disturbs their hibernation cycle.

Known as white-nose syndrome, it’s not harmful to humans, however they can be carriers.

The MNR says bats may be the last thing people think about, but they’re integral to maintaining bio-diversity.

It says bats help to control the harmful insect population.
