MNR: New Moose Hunting Regulations

The MNR is making some changes moose hunters need to be aware of.

Starting this season, the hunting of moose calves has been limited to two weeks in the north.

The MNR is letting hunters know what to look for to differentiate a calf from a cow, so they aren’t tagged illegally.

Outreach specialist at the MNR, Adriana Pacitto says to look at their heads.

Meanwhile adult moose have a long over-hanging nose, with a rectangular shape face.

Adult bull moose will also have antlers to distinguish them from calves.

Calves are generally around four-feet tall at the shoulder, while fully grown moose are about six-feet.
