Sturgeon Restoration Project on Mattagami River

There are going to be nets set up in the Mattagami River next week as part of the Sturgeon Restoration Project.

The MNR is asking boaters to be careful, that you don’t drive through them or tamper with the equipment.

This project is the first successful attempt to restore Sturgeon into a natural lake by transplanting adults from one area to another, and letting them spawn naturally.

The nets are going up today and will be there until October 9th.

The MNR says they will be clearly marked.
