Fall Seatbelt Campaign Rolls Out This Week

Northeast OPP will be making seatbelt spot checks this week.

Police say this week they’re out in full force for the OPP’s Fall Seatbelt Campaign.

Police say in the week of September 7th alone there were seven people killed in the Northeast in collisions, six of which were not wearing a seatbelt.

Police say the fine for not wearing a seatbelt is $240 and two demerit points.

The OPP reports 42 people have been killed this year in Ontario not wearing a seat belt.

Police stations in Kapuskasing, Hearst and Cochrane will be also be holding open houses and flag raising events for a French community appreciation event tomorrow.
