NewsPHU to Host Canning Workshop SHARE ON: Gregory Rosser, contributor, Thursday, Sep. 10th, 2015The Porcupine Health Unit is hosting a canning workshop.The workshop will be hosted by Chef Emerie Brine and will be making stops in Kapuskasing and Hearst 21st and then Iroquois Falls on the 22nd.The health unit says canning is often used to preserve fresh produce.Caitlin Ellery, a public health dietitian says the workshop aims to make sure people are safely canning their food.With farmers markets in the area such as the one in Kapuskasing and the bridge market in Fauquier, the event aims to make storing food safer and easier.The Porcupine Health Unit operates in many Northeastern Communities.
