Local athletes will be travelling to Guelph next summer in provincial games for the Special Olympics.

Simone Knowles, head of the Special Olympic committee in Kapuskasing says the preliminary events held in the area were promising.

Eugene Jean and Terry Davski for bowling alongside Fabin Fortin and Stella Arezza for swimming will be heading to the provincial spring games.

Knowles is hoping this will spark other athletes’ interest in the area who may be interested in competing.

The spring games will take place from May 26th to May 29th of next year in Guelph.
