First Nation Reaches Constitutional Milestone with Province

The former Whitefish Lake First Nation has ratified a new constitution.

This legislation makes it the fourth First Nation in Ontario to ratify a document to reflect its values and traditions.

The First Nation located near Sudbury now goes by the name Atikameksheng.

Grand Council Chief Pat Madahebee congratulated the First Nation for its new constitution.

The document grants aboriginal communities the ability to create their own, unique legislation.
