More Kashechewan Residents Heading to Kapuskasing

Kapuskasing is receiving more evacuees from Kashechewan.

Manager of Protective Services, Gerry Demeules says about 60 to 65 evacuees will be taking up residence in Kapuskasing.

In 2014 Kashechewan had to be evacuated due to flooding and now repeated flooding has led to mould and respiratory concerns in their homes.

Demeules says the project is still on schedule bringing the total to around 470 members of the Kashechewan community living in Kapuskasing.

In the last town council Demeules said homes have been found for about three quarters of the Kashechewan residents, and finding others is becoming a daunting task.
