Police and the MNR are asking the public to be aware of bears and other wildlife.
Police say that since April they have responded to 100 calls regarding bears in our region alone.
If you do witness a bear entering a largely populated area or if it seems agitated you’re asked to call police immediately.
While police will be the first responders, the Ministry of Natural Resources will also assist if possible.
The MNR says if Black Bears enter a populated area, it isn’t always a threat to public safety, but reporting its presence always helps.
We share the land here with all manner of wildlife in the Northeast.
