MNR Dish Out Hefty Fines

Three North Bay residents have to pay over $10,000 in fines for breaking fishing laws.

Bruce, Andrew, and Joshua Scobie pleaded guilty to fishing in a sanctuary during the closed season, and having a spear for fishing Walleye.

The three were caught spearing Walleye in the Wasi Falls fish sanctuary on May 5th.

They are banned from fishing in any sanctuaries and in the Lake Nipissing area for two years. All walleye and spears were turned over to the Crown.

This is the second incident with hefty fines carried out by the MNR in the Northeast after the baitfish blitz two weeks ago.
