Officer injured in BC avalanche identified as being from Hearst

An off-duty police officer who was injured in an avalanche accident in southern British Columbia is now being identified as from Hearst.

Constable Matthieu Nolet of Hearst and Constable Wade Tittemore were skiing the back country when the slide hit near Goat Range Provincial Park north of Kaslo.

Tittemore died as a result of the accident. Nolet remains in critical but stable condition in hospital and is talking to doctors.
