Kapuskasing off-leash dog park a busy place for pet owners

Kapuskasing’s off-leash dog park has been a busy place this winter. That’s from committee chairperson Tricia Papineau who reports there’s been a steady amount of cars during the day, but notes it’s difficult to quantify actual numbers.

“In the winter when its colder, there are less people using it. The weather has really been pleasant so which has been an advantage for us to use the park and for dogs to enjoy it.”

Papineau says there appears to be a peak time when everyone likes to go.

“And the busy times in the winter are mostly around between 4 and 6 before it gets too dark,” she said. “I guess people go after work, so if you want to go when it’s more of a busy time between 4 and 6 in the winter is a good time to go.”

The town of Kap donated shovels to the committee to help with snow removal. She adds that solar lights have also been added so the park can be used at night.

The off leash dog park committee is looking for a couple of more members. If you are interested in joining their group and helping out the new park, please contact Tricia Papineau at 705-335-1697 or visit the park’s Facebook page.
