Remi Ski Club now open in Moonbeam

After a bit of a delay for the arrival of more snow, the Remi Skis Club in Moonbeam is now officially open. Manager Kathy Mercier says the club welcomed outdoor enthusiasts on December 27th and so far the snow conditions have been great.

“We need a little more snow to make it quite perfect, but it’s been pretty good.” she said. “The trails, the different ones, the double biggie, the big pimple – everything is running quite smoothly actually.”

Mercier says memberships, and day passes are available for those who want to give it a try and there’s also a bus from Kapuskasing to pick skiers up.

Downhill skiing, snowboarding, tubing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and fat bikes are among the many activities offered.

She adds that this year the ski club is marking a special milestone.

“We are going into 55 years of existence and I just want to say that if it weren’t for the volunteers, the board volunteers, the ski hill might not be around 55 years later,” she said. “So it’s a beautiful thing.”
