Kap hosting Timmins U-18 Hockey League all-star game on Saturday

The Timmins U-18 Hockey League all-star game takes place at the Sports Palace in Kapuskasing tomorrow afternoon at 3:30. It features representatives from all of the teams including the Regional Express made up of players from both Kap and Hearst.  All-star game spokesman Jean Filion says several charities will benefit from the admission tomorrow.

“Supporting KidSport and Jump Start in both Kap and Hearst as well as both food banks,” he said. “Price at the door will be $5 unless you bring a non-perishable food item at which point the admission fee will be $2 along with your donation to the food bank.”

Filion says there will be prizes given away throughout the game including two televisions.

He adds that the goal is to raise more than $2,000 which was the total from Timmins the last time the game took place.

“So we have a very zealous objective so we’re hoping to double that,” he said. “With the prizes that all of local merchants and businesses from Kap and Hearst have contributed, we’re quite confident that we will be able to match that if not exceed that.”
