Caisse Alliance donates $111,000 to Sensenbrenner Hospital Foundation for Palliative Care

A second hospice room for Sensenbrenner Hospital in Kapuskasing will become a reality? Caisse Alliance announced in a press conference yesterday a $111,000 donation to the hospital foundation. Hospital CEO France Dallaire says the new palliative care area will also be used by bariatric patients.

“We are just starting the planning process for the project obliviously so I think it’s going to be a few months before we are ready,” she said. “But in the next few weeks, I think we will be able to offer the bariatric services in there.”

Dallaire says that about 50 per cent of patients in the hospital who die don’t have access to the palliative care room.

“We are very often in a situation where we have to choose between two patients and two families on who has access to the palliative care room,” she said.

In 2021, 28 patients used the one hospice room while 31 others had to go to other rooms in the hospital.

In the last three years Caisse Alliance has donated over $300,000 to the hospital foundation.
