Chamber president says name change positive move so far

The president of the Northern Corridor Chamber of Commerce says its name change from the former Kapuskasing and District has been a positive thus far. Cathy Courchesne says the new name went into effect as of November 1st.

“It gives us an opportunity to better serve our smaller communities between Hearst and Smooth Rock,” she said. “It gives them more visibility on our large map and it allow us to support the local businesses with the chamber resources.”

Courchesne said the chamber has some great services to offer small businesses.

“We have our member to member discount program, we have our discount program with different partners including Esso and some banking services,” she said. “We have discount on activities; and we can promote your business and events through our social media station.”

The Northern Corridor covers an area from Smooth Rock Falls to Hearst, and Courchesne hinted that they might stretch their tentacles even further to add some other communities.
