Kap Flyers to host Teddy Bear toss game this Saturday

The Kapuskasing Flyers’ annual teddy bear toss game is this Saturday 7 pm when they take on the Sudbury U16 Nickel Capitals at the Sports Palace.

TD Canada Trust branch manager Lucie Greene says the teddy bears will be thrown onto the ice during the first intermission with a prize given to the closest one to centre. She adds that Northeastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services will get all of the toys that are collected.

“And they are going to distribute all of the toys to the local families that are in need,” she said. “This is very dear to our hearts we’ve been doing that for 10 years. It’s so appreciated and the community always comes together to make this very successful.”

Greene says not to worry if you don’t have a Teddy Bear or forget to bring one.

“We are hoping everyone brings teddy bears but if people don’t have a chance then we will be selling some small teddy bears for $5,” he said. “So people can participate in the TD bear toss.”

There is also a draw to benefit the Kapuskasing Food Bank and you could win a bunch of prizes worth over $2,700, including a recliner. Last year the draw raised $5,000 for the food bank.
