The Hearst Rotary Club is having a special event this Saturday for those in need in the community during the holiday season.
Past President Marjolaine Talbot-Lemaire says you are invited to the Bargain Shop between 10 am and 4 pm to purchase a toy or to drop off non-perishable food items. She adds that the number of people and families requiring assistance continues to grow every year.
“We will have a good 15 to 20 families with children most have two or three but we see sometimes they have 4 or 5 kids,” she said. “And then a lot of individuals that unfortunately that can’t either work for various reasons.”
Talbot-Lemaire says the Bargain Shop donates 10 per cent of their sales to the project.
“I think it is one of the most rewarding projects that we do have and the community also looks forward to it,” she said. “We partner up with some of the local organizations that refer families and individuals to us.”
Gift wrapping services, a visit by Santa Claus, as well as cookies, hot chocolate will also be part of the festivities.
