Hearst Mayor Roger Sigouin says team work key to success locally and in region

Hearst Mayor Roger Sigouin kicked off his 23rd year at the helm after his swearing in ceremony earlier this week.

Sigouin looks back at his many years coaching sports as something that has helped him in municipal politics. He says team work is the key to success not only on a local level but across the region.

“Especially in Kapuskasing!,” he said. “We have to get along, and we’re doing pretty good with your mayor and myself, working together for the best for the region because if we are only talking only about only our community we’re not going to go anywhere.”

Sigouin notes there are a number of items on the agenda ranging from securing funding for the Foyer des Pionniers nursing home expansion project to getting more homes built

“About 36 to 40 units to help people to come to work in the community, work at the hospital,” he said. “It’s a must for the community and that’s what we have to work on.”
