Town of Kap hoping to fix up one final stretch of Government Road with government help

The Town of Kap is asking the province to help wrap up the last piece of construction of the connecting link. Mayor Dave Plourde says the town applied to the Ministry of Transport for $3 million for Government Road from Caron Street to Clear Lake Road intersection.

“If we were successful in receiving the funding of that section of connecting link – it would mean we have done from the complete west side of the limits to the east side,” he said. “Then we would have to look where we fit down the road at resurfacing and anything else we have to do.”

Plourde adds that Clear Lake Road will be a heavily used road in the future.

“There’s a new sawmill going up there,” he said. “There’s the dump we have up there. We also have hydro trucks going in and out of that section of Clear Lake Road. So it’s a busy intersection. So I think widening of that highway would stand to reason.”
