Kapuskasing Mayor applauds council for many accomplishments during last term

The Mayor of Kapuskasing praised members of council for their dedication and hard work together during their final meeting on Monday night. Dave Plourde says council doesn’t always have to agree but by working together they were able to accomplish a lot in the past term.

“I think you know to look back on the four years that went by so fast and all of things that we managed to accomplish that’s amazing,” he said. “And I think I have never been a part of council that has done so much in so little time.”

Some of those accomplishments included navigating the town through the pandemic, helping to stage a 100th anniversary celebration largely virtual, and fixing up a large stretch of Government Road.

Martin Credger, Julien Boucher and Sebastien Lessard will not returning for the new term of council. Credger is retiring after 19 years at his post. Ken Munnoch, Bruce Newton, and Guylaine Scherer will be joining new faces Melanie Breton, Gary Fortin and Martin Dinnissen that will be sworn in on Monday, Dec. 5.
