Moose FM Community Cares Radiothon returns Friday, Dec 9

It’s time to save the date. The Moose FM Community Cares Radiothon returns in exactly 30 days on Friday, Dec. 9. The 12-hour broadcast from 6 am to 6 pm has fundraised over $232,000 for both the Sensenbrenner Hospital Foundation in Kapuskasing and the Notre Dame Hospital Foundation in Hearst.

Francine Laberge, Notre Dame Hospital Foundation coordinator, says that due to rising prices of materials and labour, the cost of the hospital expansion project has gone up from its original $4 million price tag.

“We are looking at a 47 per cent increase which is now bringing the project just under $5.6 million,” she siad. “We have $1,897,000 already raised to date.”

Sensenbrenner Hospital Foundation program manager Mireille Dubosq says donations will go towards helping newborns.

“So a panda warmer is a piece of equipment that’s utilized in all births, and it’s designed to keep all infants warm while they are assessed by the medical professional team,” she said.
