Two key events return to Remembrance Day services in Kap

Final preparations are underway for Remembrance Day Services at the Kapuskasing Cenotaph this Friday. Royal Canadian Legion 85 President Donna Todd says the parade will form up at 10:30 am followed by the service at 11. She adds two changes to the program later in the day will allow Legion members and veterans to gather and reflect.

“Our traditional luncheon after the event, everyone is welcome to attend,” she said. “Also this year we will be having the November 11th supper. Cocktails begin at 5 pm and supper is at 6 o’clock.”

The Legion held its traditional services at the Fauquier Cenotaph and the St. Patrick’s Parish Hall this past Sunday prior to its Remembrance Day program.

Todd says the addition of flags/banners to honour veterans in the community has made services more special this year.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to remember,” she said. “That’s the whole idea of what the poppy is all about. We need to remember the people that gave their lives for our country.”
