Winter Wonderland parade returns on Sunday, Nov. 27 in Kap

Back by popular demand, is the Rotary Club’s Winter Wonderland Parade on Sunday, November 27th. The parade will form up at the Sports Palace starting at 1 pm and then head out at 2 o’clock. It’s a different route that travels down Brunetville Road to the Circle and then concludes at the Welcome Centre.  Organizer Jennifer Coghill says there are a few changes this year.

“We actually needed a bigger parking lot to actually star the parade in because we ran out of space last year so that’s a good problem to have,” she said. “So our route is a little longer this year and we changed it just slightly so that way it’s a little easier on our parade, those walking.”

Coghill says another change will also be how candy is given to children.

“Candy cannot be thrown off floats,” she said. “It has to be handed out by people walking beside the floats. Children’s safety is the most important number one thing and to also reduce litter on the streets.”

Coghill says there will be judging for the best floats, with the judges spread throughout the parade route. Registration information is available on the Rotary Club’s Facebook page.
