Kap native Fiona Anderson to perform at Lee’s Palace on Friday night

A Kapuskasing native will be performing at the prestigious Lee’s Palace in Toronto on Friday night. Fiona Anderson and the band Mntclr (Montclair) will hit the same stage that Nirvana and the Red Hot Chili Peppers have performed on. She says the concert will mark two months since she left Kapuskasing to go to school in Toronto.

“Definitely something that I have to remind myself that’s actually going to happen,” she said. “But ya it’s been a fast paced wild ride but one that i am so so happy to be on.”

Anderson met the band during a bunch of chance encounters and circumstances and liked her voice enough to ask her to sing with them.

“After a couple of songs they looked at me and said hey we are actually in another band and we need a lead singer for a show at Lee’s Palace on November 4th,” she said. “Do you have the time learn 30 minutes of material in five weeks.”

Mntclr is an up-and-coming self described mathy prog rock band. Math rock is complex structures and irregular stopping and starting in the music.

The Ecole Secondaire Cite des Jeunes graduate has sung the national anthem at the Kap Flyers games and performed at the Lumberjack Heritage Festival.
