Preliminary work underway on next section of connecting link in Kap

With part one of the connecting link, just completed, the town of kap can now turn its attention to the second part of Government Road from Service Master business to Caron Street. Town Council is expected to approve the same engineering company that has worked with them in the past.

Mayor Dave Plourde says the water main and sewer line will not be replaced because it’s not included in the provincial grant.

“So we’re applying to a new connecting link program, a granting program that’s come out so to do that we have to do the engineer work so we know what we are talking about by what of construction and what it entails,” he said.

Under the proposal, the town is still extending the three lanes and the sidewalks to Caron Street. Construction is expected to start next spring.

Plourde says it’s hopeful that this project will be as smooth as the last one.

“The delays in traffic weren’t quite the same as in previous years so we’re hoping it goes similarly next year when the construction there starts,” he said.
