New mayor Eric Cote excited about the future of Moonbeam

The town of Moonbeam is among many in the area to see change in its mayor’s position. Eric Cote will take over the helm from Nicole Fortier-Levesque next month.  Cote, who is the current councillor, and manager of public works in Kapuskasing, says Moonbeam has become home to him and his family.

“I spend all of my entire summers there, and some of my winters,” he said. “It’s very important to me that way. I come from a small village originally and you feel right at home in Moonbeam.”

Cote says Moonbeam is on the verge of further development and it was important for him to be part of that work ahead.

He was also the conservative candidate in the June provincial election and adds that the election prepared him well for the municipal campaign, by not focusing as much on strategy.

“Come this recent election the municipal one we decided to avoid not to look at any of that and get the work done,” he said. “So that was the big learning curve, rather be boots on the ground talking to people then spend time talking on strategy.”
