Two communities in our region will have new mayors. Councillor Patrick Roberts has taken the post in Smooth Rock Falls edging incumbent Sue Perras by five votes following a recount. Perras took over as mayor of last year when Michel Arsenault stepped down.
Moonbeam also has a new mayor today as councillor Eric Cote defeated incumbent Nicole Fortier-Levesque. Cote ran previously for the Conservatives in the provincial election and is also the public works manager for the town of Kap.
Two mayors are returning for another term in their respective communities. Johanne Baril was victorious in Val-Rita Harty over Rosane Parent, while Madeleine Tremblay retains her position in Fauquier- Strickland with a win over Robert Courchesne.
