Changes are on the way to Emergency Medical Services in Kapuskasing. Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board isn’t renewing its contract with Sensenbrenner Hospital and will take over all services internally. Mayor Dave Plourde says the contract will expire at the end of March.
“They do so throughout the whole district except for Kapuskasing,” he said. “So we are the only part of DSSAB paramedic service that is run through the hospital. That’s been that way for many years.”
Plourde says it’s essentially a transfer of management.
“It was adding an extra body to the whole arrangement. so now it will be run with the same management team that exists presently in Kapuskasing,” he said. “DSSAB has agreed to negotiate with all of the same paramedics who will all have the opportunity to transfer into the group.”
