A Texas-sized honour for our Denis J. Puska

You won’t be hearing Denis J. Puska much here on Moose FM for the rest of the week, and we’re very proud of the reason.

Our morning show host and news guy is in Texas – Amarillo, to be exact – where he did play-by-play for the three hockey teams for 14 years before coming back to his hometown

The current team, the Wranglers,is honouring Denis at its season home opener.

“They’re going to be naming the press box after me, and the media area,” he says, prior to the game on Saturday night.”

The press box at the Amarillo Civic Centre Cal Farley Coliseum will be named the Denis J. Puska Broadcast Post.

“It’ll be kind of neat,” Denis modestly admits.  “I’ve been a part of those in Amarillo before. This is the first where the shoe’s on the other foot, so to speak. So it’ll be fun.”

The Wranglers play in a junior league that Denis compares to the NOJHL and the Hearst Lumberjacks.
