Kapuskasing hosting Team Ontario tryouts for North American Indigenous Games

UPDATE OCT. 12: The tryouts have been postponed until Sat., Oct. 29.  Ostrom says that will “accommodate more players and maximize the impact of the event.”

Tryouts for Team Ontario that will participate in the North American Indigenous Games next summer in Halifax will take place at Kapuskasing District High School next weekend. Youth ages 13 to 19 can try out for Badminton, Volleyball and Basketball teams.

Indigenous Wellness Ontario communications manager Hilary Ostrom says the games will be the first time youth have gotten together for competition in two years.

“There’s so many youth with incredible talents,” she said. “It’s amazing to see them try out and compete and hopefully open their eyes to new possibilities and pathways.”
