Fundraising completed on second operating room at Sensenbrenner Hospital

Sensenbrenner Hospital Foundation has completed fundraising for the second operating room project. Foundation project manager Mireille Dubosq says second operating room started as a one part project but quickly grew.

“It ended up as a two part project when the ministry finally announced that they were going to give part of the money to the hospital to fund some of the pieces of equipment,” she said. “And then a third part, we had requested a wish list from a very very generous donor.

Chairman Gilbert Peters says money from the 50-50 draw, several donors, including an anonymous one of $489,000 help them to purchase new equipment plus add a wish list of other items.

“The young doctors in Kapuskasing are really happy that we are able to furnish them with nothing but the best of top of the line equipment, so they can work on certain projects when it comes to doing major projects in Kapuskasing,” he said.

Peters says that means more surgeries that people would normally have to travel out of town for such as breast cancer surgery can be done locally.
