The 16th Annual Lumberjack Heritage Festival

The Lumberjack Heritage Festival in Kapuskasing draws thousands every year.

It’s one of the largest festivals held in the Northeast and features lumberjack competitions like axe throwing and log rolling. A new cross-fit competition that many we spoke to cited as their favourite new feature and a high-profile fireworks show that could be seen from practically anywhere in town.

In the Northeast small businesses are the lifeblood of communities, Allan Spacek, Kapuskasing’s Mayor says the traffic festivals like this create play a factor in the economy of the whole town.

2200 people were in attendance at the Kapuskasing Sports Palace to see live acts covering the Beetles, C-C-R and Bon Jovi.
