An open house for the new off-leash dog park in Kapusaksing takes place this Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at the former Val Albert Ball Park. Dog Park spokesperson Tricia Papineau says the committee is looking forward to inviting everyone with their dogs to check out the facility and ask questions.
“We’re going to give orientation to newcomers,” she said. “There will be some fundraising with little things to sell. What’s exciting is that we have dog groomers that will be onsite for nail trimming so it will be a fun night for all dog lovers.”
A portion of the proceeds of the dog grooming will go directly to the dog park. Papineau says all of the gates have arrived and a transition area has been created for the dogs and their owners.
A one-year trial was granted to the park at former Val Albert Ball Park by Kapuskasing Town Council in the spring. If the park becomes permanent, Papineau says the committee would like to build dugout style shelters.
