Social Planning Council hosting youth wellness hub open house in Kap on September 26

Students who want to learn more about a youth wellness hub in Kapuskasing are invited to an outreach event on Monday, Sept. 26 from 4:30 to 7 pm at St. Patrick’s School. Cochrane District Social Planning Council executive director Trisha Turner says the meeting is open to students ages 12 to 25.

“To get their ideas on the kinds of services they want, the things they want to see happen in the Hub,” she said. “Wee want the wellness hub to be youth driven.”

Turner says this meeting is the first step to get a Hub set up in Kap.

“We’re hoping to do another follow up engagement session in mid to late October,” she said. “And then, hoping to have the actual hub and activities up and running by late fall.”

Turner says the Hub will be moved around to various locations in town throughout the week and on weekends. It’s a space where students can access services such as counselling, participate in workshops or even just hang out.
