Three running for mayor in Smooth Rock Falls

It’s a three person race for mayor in Smooth Rock Falls this October. Incumbent Sue Perras who took over the post over a year and a half ago from Michel Arsenault is being challenged by current councillor Patrick Roberts and Kevin Somer.

Perras says her biggest priority is the get the town ready for the Canada Nickel Mine project on Highway 655 near Timmins. She adds over 1,200 construction jobs are going to be created and she hopes they choose their town to live.

“But in order to do that we need to be ready, we can’t wait for the last minute,” she said. “We need to develop some lots, we need to get them ready so when some people are interested in moving they can build a lot, they can buy a pre-fab…whatever but it has to be ready.”

Perras says the town is on track in following its master plan.
