Work nearing completion on Kapuskasing River Bay Project

Work on the Kapuskasing River Bay project is nearing completion. A grant from the province helped cover the cost of the project that should be done in a few weeks. Administrator Guylain Baril says some of the old trees were removed from that area plus the remaining sections from original outdoor swimming pool.

Some of that infrastructure is still showing so we’ll be taking that out, seeding everything and replanting trees that will be better suited for the enjoyment of that park,” he said. “I think people will be super pleased with the end result. I know it looks like a bit of a war zone cause we’re doing the work.”

Baril says that will soon be a hot spot once again.

“So we may actually keep it confined so people don’t step on the young roots of that grass,” he said. “But realistically speaking this season we may not benefit from the changes in the bay but confident next year will be something for everyone to enjoy.”

The area was also a spot used for the Kapuskasing Heritage Lumberjack Festival over the years.
