Families needed in Kapuskasing area to host Ukrainian refugees

A group called Kapuskasing and Area Supporting Ukrainian Families is looking for help. Member Trevor Russell says the group needs a few families to host Ukrainian refugees that are in Poland and want to move to Canada.

“We have a mother with a four and a half year old son, who is anxious, to be hosted,” he said. “Myroslava is the mother of a teenage daughter. She is living in Poland. She is looking to find a host as well. These are people that have reached out to me through various Facebook groups.”

Russell who has already hosted a family, says it’s not easy and requires a lot of commitment and hard work that is very rewarding.

Another member Jennifer Coghill says the group has started a Facebook page and you can find out more information how you can help there.

“And you can post on there if you have things that you can donate,” she said. “If you wanted to make a donation to family or if you are willing to host a family. Many do want to come to Kap.”

Coghill says the Kapuskasing area is a great spot for the Ukrainians because of the mill and different mines that are available.
