A soup kitchen has started in the basement of the Kapuskasing Food Bank. It’s available on the first, second and fourth Thursday of every month from noon to 3 pm. Soup Kitchen organizer Amanda Rickard says the goal is to help those in the community with a great meal and conversation.
“The turnout has been great,” she said. “Last week at our quiet launch, we served 100 bowls of soup. We’ve had a lot of volunteers, we’ve had people offering to donate.”
She adds it’s easy if anyone would like to help out the great cause.
“It’s a $100 donation and that provides a pot of soup to supply one entire soup kitchen day,” she said. “So we’ve had a lot of good response to that. You can give $5, $10. You don’t even have to give anything and come down and have soup and have the company.”
The Food Bank, Rotary Club and JT&Co are partnering for the Soup Kitchen.
