A press conference for a significant contribution from multiple levels of government was held this morning.
The Kapuskasing Welcome centre was the fitting backdrop for a plan that will see the Highway 11 Connecting Link upgrade from the 5.7-million dollar contribution from both the Provincial and Federal levels of government to the region.
In Cochrane, Railway Street will be completely repaved and will see new roadside infrastructure implemented.
In Timmins, a 7.8 million-dollar project involving sewage and water treatment will have a third of the cost covered by this funding channeled through Canada’s Economic Development Plan.
FedNor Minister Greg Rickford and the Minister of Northern Development and Mining Michael Gravelle put together this funding and worked together, across the Liberal and Conservative parties in a bi-partisan effort and the largest investment into Northern Ontario ever.
