The mayor of Val Rita-Harty hopes three times is a charm in the fall. Johanne Baril says she will run for a third term in October’s municipal election.
“There is much to be done and a lot is on the plate,” she said. “I just want to make sure that the next council and I along with the team move forward on the strategies that we have established the next five to 10 years for the community.”
Baril says she’s looking forward to the completion of the community centre this fall
“There are going to be a great number of activities going on at that community centre both cultural and recreational and the like,” she said. “Yes we are very excited so stay tuned.”
Baril says economic development is what has kept her going the past two terms, adding that the municipality is very involved in regional economic activities. Baril sits on the Northern Ontario transportation task force and is president of the Northeastern Ontario Municipal Association.
