Ron Morel Museum welcoming back visitors and tourists

One of Kapuskasing’s major tourist attractions is open and ready for visitors. The Ron Morel Memorial Museum is back offering a glimpse of the history of the Model Town. Tourism and special events coordinator Kelly Kraby says the museum will be open weekdays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. She adds that among the changes is the museum won’t be open on weekends.

“We are also going to be testing out self-guided tours,” she said. “We have one summer student that is going to be dedicated to being the ambassador to the museum and to answer any questions people may have. The student will guide them through the museum but it’s mostly self-guided.

Mayor Dave Plourde says with everything returning to normal, the museum allows people to stop and take the tour.

“Now with the two charging stations right in front of the museum it allows for people to charge their vehicles, and go take a tour through the museum at the same time,” he said. “And we’ve also got the dumping station. The fact that summer time in Kapuskasing is going to be a lot busier than it has been the last two years.”
