Crane removal necessitates road closure

You’ll want to leave early Wednesday, travelling either way between Iroquois Falls and Timmins.

The disabled 400-ton crane that’s been on the side of Municipal Rd. since June 3rd will be removed that day.

It’s on the shoulder about 300 m north of Rice Lake Road, where it caught fire.

Iroquois Falls public works director Joel Cyr says the road will be closed along its entire length during the removal operation, which involves another crane dismantling it.

People living south of the site will be able to get out, but only to head southbound towards Hwy. 101.

The closure begins at 9:00am and is expected to last until about 4:00pm.
