Heritage Lumberjack Festival won’t return in Kap

Kapuskasing will not have a major summer festival this year. That’s the word from new tourism and special events coordinator Kelly Kraby. She says the Heritage Lumberjack Festival had a great 20 year run but it’s time to move to something new.

“It won’t happen this year because we need time to plan, we need to apply for grants and things like that,” she said. “I really want to establish a special events committee. So if people want to be on board, I wanna hear their ideas and see if they want to contribute in any way to our committee.”

She adds this summer it’s important to support the existing events like the St. Jean Festival and Beer Fest.

“We are there to lend a helping hand or promoting, whatever we need to do,” she said.

The last Heritage Lumberjack Festival was held in 2019 just before the COVID-19 pandemic.
