Schedule of construction projects based on grant guidelines

Construction season is never the easiest at the best of times for municipalities like Kapuskasing. But add guidelines to grants received from the provincial and federal government and it forces a delicate balancing act. Administrator Guylain Baril outlines the schedule ahead in the next three years that starts with part of the Connecting Link on Government Road.

“Next year they would see Brunelle North from the arena to the highway, and the following year we would return back to the highway for connecting link and do Service Master to Caron Street just past Walmart,” he said.

Baril adds that typically the town has two years to do the projects.

“What we like to do is do all of the earthworks the first year of that two year project,” he said. “And we will have one coat of asphalt on the surface. We like to come in the following year and finish off the asphalt and do the sidewalks and all of that.”

The Town of Kap is hopeful that it can get an additional grant to finish off Brunelle Road North from the arena to Brunetville Road in the future.
