Canada Nickel holding public meetings next week on Crawford project near Timmins

Virtual meetings will be held next week on the proposed Crawford Nickel Project located on Highway 655 near Timmins. Canada Nickel Company’s Communications Coordinator Alexandra Armstrong says the meetings, next Friday, May 13th and Monday May 16th take place via zoom and continue discussions with groups that were started last year.

“Bit of an importance to identify potential impact and proposed mitigation measures,” she said. “Everything we are talking about is still preliminary, but it will give everyone a sense of where we want to take this project and give them an opportunity to give us any comments, questions or concerns they may have about that information.”

Armstrong says discussions about the project include a number of groups.

“Especially with indigenous communities and preliminarily identified stakeholders,” she said. “The primary interest for the project is trying to optimize the benefits that we have for this region. So we are working with the groups we are speaking with the focus on economics and social benefits.”

She adds that the meetings will be similar and participants don’t have to participate in both. The company hopes to have the feasibility study completed by the end of the year. You must register for the zoom meetings.
